Last rites for Joel W. Bittner, 68, retired Eldora farmer, were held at the Longenecker Funeral Home here yesterday afternoon with the Rev. Ralph B. Imes officiating. Interment was in the Miller cemetery, southwest of Union.
Mr. Bittner died Monday night at University hospital in Iowa City, where he had been since Friday. He had been in ill health two years.
Pallbearers were Austin McCullem, Orville Higgason, Max Higgason, Ralph Fouts, Oliver Bittner, John Baker.
Mrs. Marion Munsinger and Mrs. Max Higgason were in charge of the flowers. Donald LaVelle was the vocalist, accompanied by Mrs. C.R. Johnson.
Joel W. Bittner, son of John and Malinda Bittner, was born June 25, 1888, in Grant township, Iowa. He departed this life on May 14 attaining the age of 67 years, 10 months and 19 days.
He was united in marriage with Harriett Hammer on Feb. 14, 1914. The couple resided in Hardin county most of their married life.
He is survived by his wife and three sons, Dale of Eldora, Joel J. and Duane of Des Moines. One son, Gerald, preceded him in death.
He is also survived by one brother, John, of Waterloo; 9 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
His father, mother, three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.

ELDORA — Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Longenecker funeral home with burial at Miller cemetery near Union for Joe W. Bittner, 67; died Tuesday at University hospital, Iowa City; survived by wife, three sons, Dale, of Eldora; Joe and Dwayne, of Des Moines.
