Funeral services for Thomas Franklin McGowan, who died in St. Paul, Minn., Tuesday, August 18th, were conducted Friday at 3 P.M. in the chapel of the Murphy-Spicer Funeral Home, with ministers S.W. Sanders and William A. Cockerell, officiating.

Mr. McGowan, 78 years old, died after a short illness. He was a long-time resident of Clarendon, and was a retired farmer. He had lived in Donley County since 1912. He was visiting his son, M.B. McGowan in St. Paul at the time of his death. He was a member of the Clarendon Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ellen C. McGowan of Clarendon; two sons, A.I. of Dimmitt and M.B. of St. Paul; two daughters, Mrs. Virgil Maxey of Clarendon and Mrs. W.C. Sargent of Pringle, Texas; two brothers, R.I. of Phoenix, Ariz., and Newman, of McGregor; three sisters, Mrs. Mattie Simmons of Henderson, Mrs. Tom Thompson of Tyler, and Mrs. Maurice Ballard of Abilene; 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mr. McGowan's grandsons acted as pallbearers.

Burial was in Citizens Cemetery with Murphy-Spicer Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements.
