OBITUARY FOR A.T. DRAKELEY
-----

Bismarck daily tribune., July 31, 1914
Bismarck, North Dakota
------
AGED MAN DROWNS.
Cottonwood Lake, N. D., July 30.—
The body of A. T. Drakeley, aged 70, was found in a pool of water half a mile from his home, eleven miles southeast from Cottonwood Lake. Life was extinct when the body was found. The water was about two feet deep. Mr. Drakeley has been living in this vicinity for many years and was very active for his age. About a month ago he made an overland trip to Montana to trade horses, and while on this trip received a sunstroke. Ever since then his mind has been affected. On the afternoon of his demise he was at the home of his son, William, about a mile west from his own place. Mrs. William was planning on attending a thimble party somewhere in the neighborhood, so left her father-in-law at home, telling him she would take him to his home when she returned. He did not wait for her and started to walk home alone. This was in the afternoon. In the evening he was found lying bare headed, face down, in a pool of water beside the road, half a mile west of the Angis postoffice. He had both hands up to his face, just as though he bad been bathing his forehead when be fell in.
Deceased leaves a wife and two sons and their family, all highly respected and well-to-do. Mr. Drakeley is a civil war veteran and served as sheriff in the eastern part of state.
