Dr. John Marshall Blackman was born in Harrisburg, Illinois on May 1, 1868. When he was about 21 years of age, he moved to Uniontown, Kansas, where for many years ne was station agent and telegrapher for the Missouri-Pacific railroad. In 1894, he was married to Etta Kane and to this union there were born three children. After the death of his first wife in 1913 he moved to Danville, Arkansas. In 1914, he married Etta Ozment, in Harrisburg, Illinois. From many years he engaged in the practice of veterinary medicine. He passed away on March 13, 1948, as a result of cerebral hemorrhage, at the age of 79 years.

Mr. Blackman is survived by his widow, a son, John Blackman of Dothan, Alabama and two daughters, Mrs. S. A. Reed, of Lawton, Oklahoma and Mrs. C. H. Valega, of Oklahoma City and seven grandchildren.
