Donald M. Manahan, 85, formerly of Frederick County, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2015, in North Ft. Myers, Florida.
Born on April 20, 1929, in Sabillasville, Maryland, he was the son of the late Francis and Nellie (Fox) Manahan.
Donald attended Thurmont High School, graduating in 1947 and had 2 years of college.
He was proud to be an American and served his country in the 29th Infantry Division of the Army National Guard.
He was the owner and operator of his own heating and plumbing business, Charles F. Manahan and Sons, Inc., in Sabillasville, MD., for many years. After moving to FL., he was employed as an Office Manager with Jackson Services and later was involved with Enterprise Car Rental.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Svedine) Manahan, of North Ft. Myers; his three daughters, Brenda Sears and husband, James, of Perkasie, PA, Nancy Manahan of Myersville, MD., and Sandra Truax and husband, Michael, of Hagerstown, MD.; and his grandchildren, Adam, Jessica, Benjamin, and Amanda. He is also survived by his first wife, Evelyn Warrenfeltz Manahan, of Myersville, MD.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his second wife, Joyce Lantz Manahan; sisters, Thelma (Manahan) Shockley and Hazel (Manahan) Vinci; and brother, Harold Manahan.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 104 East Main Street, Thurmont, Maryland 21788. Pastor Dave Howell will officiate. Interment will be at Bethel Cemetery in Cascade, Maryland.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
