She is buried in Goodman Cemetery; Inscription: Wife of J.J. Cowsert, Mother of 13 children. Dorcas Melvina Harbin was the daughter of Newton Harbin and Mary Locke Noland who married in Chester County, South Carolina in 1815. They moved to Pickens County, Alabama in 1816 and in 1835, Newton and Mary Noland Harbin were charter members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Pickens County. They lived in Pickens County until about 1855 when they moved to Carroll County, Mississippi where they were enumerated on the 1860 federal census. They are buried in the Harbin Cemetery, McCarley.
