• iv. Lydia Jane Hovey, dau. of Rev. Jonathan Hovey and Mary Storrs, was b. Sept. 27, 1784 at Mansfield, Conn. She d. at Little Osage (Balltown), MO on Feb. 14, 1844, Æ 60. On Sept. 28, 1805 at Waterbury, VT, Lydia's father married her to Daniel Harmon Austin, s. of David Austin and Mary Harmon, b. at Winchester, Conn. on Feb. 2, 1778. He d. at Little Osage (Balltown), MO on Jan. 28, 1852, Æ 74. In 1821 Daniel and Lydia, along with their children, became part of the group of missionaries sent by the United Foreign Missionary Society of New York that erected Harmony Mission to the Osage Indians at present-day southwest Missouri.
