..I have transcribed the following from Shelby Springs Resort letterhead on a handwritten letter, dated 15 Apr 1907, from Mary to her son, Murphy.

~~Six Fine Springs -- White Sulphur, Green Sulphur, Yellow Sulphur, Magnesia, Freestone, Chalybeate. *Peerless in beauty of natural surroundings. *Twelve acres of campus shaded by hundreds of mammoth oak and hickory trees. *A natural stream flows through the grounds. * A fine NEW HOTEL with newly furnished rooms recently erected now ready for guests. *Twenty detached cottages all rooms on ground floor. *Now completely renovated and improved, and under the management of the owner. *Patronized by refined, cultured and congenial people. *Cuisine unsurpassed. Jersey milk and butter, fruit, melons and fresh, homegrown vegetables. *A fine band furnishes music for the guests at meals and for dancing in the pavillion. *Hot and cold sulphur baths that permanently cure rheumatism, eczema, etc. *Pure air, cool nights and medicinal properties in the spring waters which permanently cure diseases of the stomach, bowels, liver, kidneys, nervous, prostration, etc. Free from mosquitoes, malaria, dust and mud. *Postoffice, telegraph and long distance telephones. *Ladies and children without escorts assured that they are as safe here as in their homes.~~
