RHYNE, BERTHA MILLIGAN
97, beloved mother & grandmother, passed away on May 17, 2010 at Pineville Rehab and Living Center in Pineville, NC.

She was born in McMinn County, TN on January 7, 1913 to the late John & Daisy Milligan. Upon the death of her father when she was 2, she lived at the Oddfellows Orphanage in Clarksville, TN. At the age of 19 she moved to Clinton, TN where she met the love of her life, Leonard Rhyne. They were married for 67 years until his death on May 14, 2000. Bertha and Leonard were residents of the Claxton & South Clinton communities almost all of their 67 years together.

She is preceded in death by daughter, Peggy Ledford; daughter-in-law, Charlsie Rhyne; brother, William Milligan; sisters, Elsie Heflin and Roxie Burns.

Survivors: daughter, Joyce Abdulhadi (Sael); sons, Charles Rhyne, Allen Rhyne (Joan), David Rhyne (Lisa); son-in-law, Alan Ledford; grandchildren, Laura Rhyne, Stacey Matthews, Jeff Rhyne, Richard Ledford, Robert Ledford, Tammy Brewer, Deena Shuffler, Rhonda Cole, Melissa Greer, David Rhyne, Jr., Elizabeth Rhyne & Charlie Rhyne; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; special niece, June Stephens. She is also survived by many other relatives & friends.

Bertha was a faithful member of Edgemoor Baptist Church. She was a member of the Church Choir, the 39ers and the Oasis Class. She touched the lives of many as a teacher in both Sunday School and Bible School. Bertha will always be remembered for her love of quilting, reading, her phenomenal love of ice cream, her strawberry-rhubarb pie and all her other baked goodies. She has joined her beloved Leonard in their heavenly cabin to spend eternity praising God together.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the ALS Association, Autism Speaks or Edgemoor Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 PM Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Edgemoor Baptist Church. Memorial service will be 3 PM Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Edgemoor Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Fritts officiating. Burial service will follow at Zion Baptist Church. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home of Clinton, TN is in charge of arrangements.
