Erda O. Schwemm, 86, a lifelong resident, died at Crystal Pines Nursing Home in Crystal Lake Tuesday, September 26, 1989. As a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, she taught Sunday School for many years.
Born in Crystal Lake, December 28, 1902, she was the daughter of Henry and Emma (Uteg) Oerkfitz who preceded her in death as have two sisters, Rosie Oerkfitz and Lillian Fredrick, and a brother, William Oerkfitz.
For 30 years she was a machine operator at Oak Industries in Crystal Lake and was a member of its Century Club.
Mrs. Schwemm is survived by her husband and two sisters, Florence Oerkfitz of Arlington Heights and Helen (Carl) Peterson of Crystal Lake.
The Rev. Edward Bergen will officiate at the funeral 11:00 am. Friday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in Crystal Lake.
Memorials may be made to the Memorial Fund at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
