William W. Jones
William Wilson Jones was born in Butler Co., near Ulysses, Nebr., Nov. 29, 1876 and died at his home five miles south of Litchfield, Nebr., Oct. 17, 1935 at the age of 58 years, 10 months, and 18 days.
He received his early education in the rural schools of Ulysses and later attended the High School there for three years.
He served as an apprentice in a print shop for a few years but preferring a farmer's life he spent the rest of his life on the farm.
On Oct. 10, 1906 he was united in marriage to Miss Lula Eaton at her home in Ulysses, Nebr. They began housekeeping on a farm near Ulysses and lived there until the spring of 1914 when they moved to Sherman Co. having purchased the farm which is their present home.
To this union two children were born---a son and daughter, both of whom survive him.
Mr. Jones has been a continuous member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge for more than 35 years, always active in its work until the past few years.
While he was not a member of any church, he was a believer in God. He has been reared in a Christian home and was a reader of the Bible. During the past few years of his life he spent a great deal of his time reading and studying God's word. He was a man of few words, quiet and unassuming in manner, but always kind and thoughtful of others. He would often leave his own work that he might give a helping hand to some neighbor. He was very industrious and worked hard often overtaxing his strength.
Many times he planned to take a trip but when the time came to go he preferred to remain in the home he loved so much. He was a kind and loving husband and father, a good friend and neighbor.
Those who mourn his going are his devoted wife and two children, Troy at home and Mrs. Naomi Merryman of Geneva, Nebr., two sisters, Mrs. Ona Hickman of Litchfield and Mrs. S. C. Baker of Ulysses, Nebr., one grand-child, besides a host of friends.
The funeral service was held at the home Sunday at 2 P. M. in charge of Rev. E. W. Price. Interment in the Litchfield cemetery.
