Funeral services for Mrs. Mary S. Bartlett, age 88, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 1984 in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Watson, Pastor, officiating. Interment was in Citizens Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Bartlett died at 12:50 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 1984 in Olsen Manor Nursing Home in Amarillo following lengthy illness. She was born June 6, 1896 in Cottondale, Texas and was married to John Roy Bartlett Sr. on September 27, 1915 in Memphis, Texas. He died in 1972. She had been a resident of Clarendon since 1916 moving here from Memphis. She was a member of the Kil Kare Needle Club and the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. J.W. Goodman of La Canada, California, Mrs. Roy Grider of Amarillo; two sons, Jr. Bartlett, Jr., of Georgetown, Connecticut, James F. Bartlett of San Antonio; five sisters, Mrs. Alma Decker of Childress, Mrs. Agnes Tunnell of Farwell, Mrs. Margaret Meadows of San Angelo, Mrs. Ruth Stanley of Amarillo, Mrs. Irene Combs of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, and sixteen great grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Willard Hudson, B.O. Hodge, Nolen Hill, Orin Lee Hill, Gene Alderson, J.P. Matheson, Don Mathewson, and Cecil Phillips.
The family requests memorials be to the Grover Swift Mary Swift Bartlett Student Scholarship Fund at Clarendon College.
