Garry Furman

Died, at his home in Fairport, Thursday, July 29th, after a lingering illness, Garry Furman, aged 69 years.

Deceased was one of the pioneers of this town and was well known and respected by all. He was born in Rockland county, April 11, 1828. In 1835 he came with his parents to this town, where he has since resided.

In 1850 he married Anna White. Two children were given to them, one of whom, Mrs. C. E. Wilcox of our village, survives him. The other, Mrs. Durand Merrifield of Penfield, died in 1893, leaving one child, Ernest.

Mr. Furman had a cheery, good natured disposition and had won many friends by his pleasant ways. For several years past be had been gradually falling in health, his iron constitution battling the ravages of disease. The last five weeks he was confined to the house, the loving hands of wife, children and friends doing for his comfort all that lay in earthly power to do.

He was buried from the home of his daughter on West Church street, Saturday, July 31st, and in a peaceful spot in the family burial ground, he awaits the dawning of the resurrection day.
