The death of Emra Eli Snyder occurred Wednesday morning, August 30, at 9:15 o'clock at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha from a stroke of apoplexy after an acute illness of only one day. Mr. Snyder had been feeling ill for several weeks and had gone to the hospital for treatment when he was overcome by the stoke from which he died a few hours later.
The funeral services were announced to be from Perryman Funeral Home, Friday, September 1, at 2:30 p.m. Rev. O. W. Morrow of the Methodist Church will officiate with pall bearers as follows, Earl Rockwell, Nick Cass, Justus Cleaver, Dave Gustafson, Harry Graham, and E. P. Selser. Music will be by Mrs. Harold Avery, with Mrs. Ray Cozad at the organ. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
Deceased was born in Clark County, Iowa, April 2, 1883, a son of J. F. and Elizabeth Stevenson Snyder. He was married in Atlantic on February 1, 1905 to Miss Mollie Turner, who survives her husband with three children, as follows, Everett Snyder, Red Oak, Mrs. Albert Eklund and Faye Elizabeth Snyder, both living in Los Angeles, California. Another son, Maynard, died in infancy. Brothers and sisters living are M. E. Snyder, Griswold, N. O. Snyder, Minatare, Nebraska, H. E. Snyder, Griswold, W. H. Snyder, Mitchell, Nebraska, P. W. Snyder, Scotts Bluffs, Nebraska, and Mrs. Ferguson, Minatare, Nebraska.
Mr. Snyder came to Cass county when a small child and came to Red Oak in 1923 and since coming here he has conducted the oil staton and lunch room near the entrance to Chautauqua Park. He was a member of the Methodist Church and of the Court of Honor.
