George W. Browning, aged 82, died in the family home Sunday after suffering for several years with complications of diseases. Mr. Browning came to Decatur many years ago from Ohio, the state of his birth. He had retired from business activities more than 30 years ago.
Mr. Browning was a member of Dunham post, GAR. He served in the Civil war with the 114th Indiana Artillery.
Besides his wife, Elizabeth Jane, he leaves several children. The daughters are Effie Wicker, Ashville, Ill; Daisy McGreagor, Oakland, Ill; Rosy Finley, Clarksdale, Ill; Mamie Taylor, Decatur, and Lulah Blye, Decatur. The sons are Oliver Browning, Georgetown, John and Merle both of Decatur.
Funeral services will be in the home and burial will be in the soldiers' plot.
