Daniel came to Wayne Township in Kosciusko County, Indiana (near Warsaw) from then Virginia with his family May 10, 1835, and was one of the first settlers in the county south of the Tippecanoe River. He was very involved in the early Methodist Episcopal Church and organization in Kosciusko County. He was a class leader and his home was one of the meeting places.
He settled and established a farm on land which was later occupied in part by the County Farm. The remainder of the farm's land was ultimately purchased and farmed by his son, James T. Webb. The County Infirmary was established on the grounds of the County Farm in 1874, and in 1879 had about 32 inmates, mostly women and children. The able-bodied of any of who stayed there were required to support the farm labor in any way they could.
