VIRGIL MALCOME BARKER
DEMOTTE, IN

Virgil Malcome Barker, age 88, of DeMotte, IN, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday May 25, 2010.
He was born in DeMotte, IN on April 8, 1922 to Rachel (Cox) and Melva J. Barker, both deceased.
Virgil was a 1941 graduate of DeMotte High School and a U.S. Army Veteran, serving at The Battle of The Bulge.
On July 20, 1945 he married Helen Motkowicz, who survives Virgil was a retired pipefitter having worked at Arco for 32 years.
He was a member and past commander of DeMotte American Legion Post 440 and a past member of Keener Twp Volunteer Fire Department.
Virgil is survived by his loving wife, Helen Barker of DeMotte, IN; children: Helen (Richard) Ford of Francesville, IN, Virnette "Winnie" (Joe) Van Schepen of Wheatfield, IN, Roberta (Craig) Brunton of Roselawn, IN, Virlynn (Rodney) Ordziejewski of Michigan City, IN and Virgil (Beth) Barker, Jr., of Peru, IN; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sister, Ella Cummins of DeMotte, IN.
Preceded in death by his parents.
Friends may call on Thursday, May 27, 2010 from 2:00-8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 2:00 PM at Jackson Funeral Service, 200 Third St. SW, DeMotte, IN. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 28, 2010 at 10:00 AM at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, DeMotte, IN with Monsignor Robert Sell officiating.
Interment at DeMotte Cemetery.
