Death of Judge Finch.

Judge Fabius M. Finch died Monday at 10:15 a.m., at his home in Indianapolis, after an illness of two weeks. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon and the remains brought to Franklin Wednesday morning for burial in Greenlawn. The active pall bearers were Judge D. W. Howe, Aquilla Jones, Eli F. Ritter, Albert Baker, G. A. Deitch and John S. Duncan, of Indianapolis; Judge Johnson and Edward F. White, of Franklin. The honorary pallbearers were Ex-President Harrison, Simon Yandes, Dr. W. H. Wishard, R. N. Lamb, A. L. Roach, John H. Holliday and Gen. James R. Carnahan. Brief services were held at the grave in Greenlawn, conducted by Rev. M. L. Haines, assisted by Drs. Morey and Marshall.

Fabius M. Finch was born in Livingston County, New York, December 20, 1810. In 1814 his father, John Finch, and family removed to Hamilton County, Ohio, and settled on a farm at North Bend, adjoining that of William Henry Harrison. In 1813 John Finch and family removed to Connersville, Ind., and thence, in 1819, to Noblesville. The son, at eighteen years, began the study of law in Indianapolis. In 1831 he came to Franklin, where he practiced law until 1865, when he moved to Indianapolis.

Judge Finch was a man of excellent natural endowments and esteemed by all, both in his public and private life.
