Roger L. Thornton, 62, of Richmond, Ind., formerly of Rockbridge, died April 7, 2006, in Logan Health Care Center. He was born June 15, 1943, in Rockbridge, son of the late Charles and Helen Canan Thornton. He was the widow of Marlene Helton Thornton.

Roger retired from the Wayne Co. Garage as a truck driver, and was a Vietnam Army Veteran.

He is survived by two brothers Charles (Susan) Thornton of Lancaster, and Raymond (Ercell) Thornton of Rockbridge; three sisters, Jane (Richard) Jackson of Sugar Grove, Nancy (Richard) Reynolds of Lancaster, and Judy (Toby) Ailes of Sugar Grove.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006, in Goshen Cemetery, Richmond, Ind., with the Rev. Gilmer Smith officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the home of his sister, Nancy Reynolds, 3130 Sugar Grove Road, Lancaster.

Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Wayne County Veterans Council.

The family suggests contributions be made to Nancy Reynolds, his sister, 3130 Sugar Grove Rd., Lancaster, OH 43130, to help with expenses.

Arrangements are by the Cardaras Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio
