ASHEVILLE – Rev. Louis N. Coscia, 84, of Asheville departed this life Sunday, May 23, 2010.
A native of Memphis, Tenn., Rev. Coscia was the son of the late Louia and Annie Coscia. He was a Free Will Baptist Missionary serving for 28 years in Brazil.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Florine Faulkner Coscia; sisters, Dorothy and Ann Coscia of Memphis, Tenn.; brothers, John and wife Josephine Coscia of Memphis, Tenn., Dr. Robert and wife Karen Coscia of Boise, Idaho. He is also survived by several nieces and nephew, including his special "buddy," Anita Windsor.
He was also preceded in death by two infant sisters and a brother, James Coscia.
Louis was a running/jogging enthusiast and a gardener. He especially enjoyed growing pansies and is known by many in this area as the "pansy man." He enjoyed reading and writing poetry and had a wonderful sense of humor.
A celebration of Rev. Coscia's life will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, May 27, 2010, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville, with Rev. Danny Gasperson officiating. Interment will follow in West Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
