John m. Betsey Colson
Olive m. Ansel Converse
Ruth m. John Ford his 2d wife
Nancy m. Ebenezer Shaw Jr
Josiah Jr. m. Polly Nash, then Mrs. Abigail Tirrell
probably born in Abington, MA and without doubt a descendant of Capt. Wm Torrey of Combe, St. Nicholas, County of Somerset, England, who came to this country in 1640 or '41 and settled in North Weymouth; the genealogy of Josiah is traced back as follows: Josiah son of Josiah, of Phillip, of William 2d, of Capt. William; served in the Revolutionary War and as early as 1785 settled in Plainfield, MA on the farm now [in 1891] owned by C. W. Packard; was called by the old people "Governor" Torrey, but how he obtained the title is not clear; the hill on which the house stands still bears his name.
