Obit in The Anthon Herald, 24 February 1936, page 1: Delbert D. Drake was born July 21, 1878, at Belle Plaine, Iowa, the youngest son of the late James and Isadora Drake, and died February 11, 1937, at a hospital in Huron, South Dakota, after a few days illness from complications following influenza. He was 58 years, 6 months and 20 days old at the time of his death. Mr. Drake was married February 25, 1902, to Grace A. Davis in Anthon, Iowa. To this union seven children were born, the oldest, Orval, dying in infancy. His wife preceded him in death ten years ago next July. The family surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Dan (Alma) Chilstrom of Brooten, Minnesota; Mrs. Robert (Lois) Allen of Manchester, South Dakota; and Opal at home; and three sons, Harvey of Loda, Illinois, Willis and Darrel at home; one brother, Kelly of Willamina, Oregon; and two sisters, Mrs. Ames Rogers of Aurora, South Dakota, and Mrs. George Ashley of Anthon, Iowa. Mr. Drake's young manhood and the first years of his married life were spent near Anthon, where he was a prominent farmer. Twenty-seven years ago the family moved to a farm they purchased near Bancroft, South Dakota, and they have made that community their home since.
