Joseph Lee worked on the railroad his entire life and would have retired as a switchman had he not passed away from a heart attack brought on by a case of food poisoning.
He was an avid outdoorsman all his life with troutline fishing and water fowl hunting his favorite sports. He and Mary had a second home on the Missouri River including a large mobile home, outbuildings and a dock.
Joseph Lee did remarry after Mary's death, but the whereabouts of her and her children are unknown. After his death she sold everything in Missouri and went back to California.
