Born Aloysius Niehaus in St. Louis. At some point he had his leg amputated. He later moved to Brooklyn, NY and was the owner of The Atlas Crutch Company. He never married. He is buried with his family at Calvary Cemetery as James Griffin. A letter from Al Niehaus to his niece Blanche dated Dec 1949 varifies the above. Unsure where he died.
