Obituary:
Christian Olinger was born Knox Co. Tenn. Oct. 15, 1825. Came to Carroll Co. Ind. when young. His first wife was a sister to the late J. D. Gamble. She only lived a short time after the marriage. June 10th, 1851, he married Mary A. Cline, who with six children, survives him. For more than a year Mr. Olinger had been in failing health. His death occurred Sept. 1, 1893, at his home in Union twp., about 6 miles north east of Cambridge. The funeral took place on Sabbath, 3rd, Elwell, the service being conducted by Rev. R. A. Ferguson, of Maxwell. There was a large attendance from far and near, as he was a man whom the people respected wherever he was known. For many years he lived on what is now the James Schuyler place north-east of Elwell. He was an honorable and upright man in all his intercourse with his fellow man and his loss will be felt most by those who knew him best. He was a relative of the Olingers in this neighborhood.
