She came with her mother and brothers to Iowa in 1868, moved to Martinsburg 1875. She was married February 1878 to George Fletcher Horton, who was born at McArthur, Vinton County, Ohio.
In 1886 George and Susan went to Oregon and bought a farm near Needy. In 1892, they settled in Oregon City. They had three children Pearl, Gilbert and Eugene.
