'Isaac' Benson of Potosi, Missouri departed this life Thursday, June 10, 2004 at Washington County Memorial Hospital having reached the age of ninety-two years, ten months and thirty days. He was born July 11, 1911 at Potosi, Missouri to the late James Isaac and Nancy Jane (Wigger) Benson.

Isaac was united in marriage to Effie Mae Haggard on August 16, 1931. This union was blessed with one son Earnie, and six daughters, Betty, Norma Jean, Joyce, Carol, Jerri and Linda. Isaac was a mechanic at the mines before retirement and was a member of the first Assembly of God Church in Potosi. On August 2, 2001, Mrs. Benson preceded him in death. They shared nearly seventy years of marriage together.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Darrel Doss and John Holmes; five of his brothers, Lloyd, Sam, Alfred, Paul and Floyd Benson, a sister, Hazel Ennis and a son-in-law, Harold Yount.

Among those who remain to mourn his passing from this life are his dear children, Earnie Benson and wife Sharon of Iron Mountain; Betty Link and husband Harold of Cadet; Norma Yount of Potosi; Joyce Wilkerson and husband Jim of Mineral Point; Carol Miner and husband Carl of Potosi; Jerri Holmes and husband Jesse of New Florence and Linda Miner and husband Clarence of Cadet; his brother, Rolla Benson of Victorville, California; a sister, Bessie Riddle of Potosi; twenty-three grandchildren; forty-six great grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and many dear friends who will also sadly miss him.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 14, 2004 at the Britton Chapel, Potosi, with Rev. Curtis "Bill" Warren officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Claton Miner, Michael Miner, Randy Link, Jason Wilkerson, Adam Miner and Kevin Miner. Mr. Benson was laid to rest next to his wife at the Redbud Memorial Gardens, Hwy. 8 West, Potosi.

All arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
