The following was written about Ralph Ramonda: For heroic achievement in connection with military operations against the enemy on February 1st 1944 during the Kivajalein operation. The leading assault platoon, of which Private First Class Ramonda was a member, was being held up by a strong enemy emplacement which was endangering the troops moving forward off the beach. Private First Class Ramonda, though under enemy fire and in an exposed position, drove several members of this fortification out in the open by his accurate fire of his m1 Grenade Launcher. Although wounded by machine gun fire shortly thereafter, it was mainly through Private First Class Ramondas actions that this strong enemy emplacement was nullified and the advance begun. His actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service.

He was discharged from the Army May 5, 1945.
