Deuel Funeral Held Monday
Services were held at the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home for Ira Deuel Monday afternoon with the Rev. Harold Hansen, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery. The six grandsons served as pallbearers. They were Clifford Bemis, Foley; Duaine Bemis, Foreston; Alden Bemis, Estes Brook; Lloyd Deuel, Minneapolis; Floyd Deuel, Milaca; and Lyle Deuel, Brainard. He passed away at the Herman Brockert home last Saturday. Ira Wellington Deuel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Abram Deuel, was born on February 25, 1876, in Iowa. He came to Minnesota with his parents at the age of four years and settled on a farm in Milo township.
On October 12, 1896, he has married to Albertine G. Foss at Princeton, Minneapolis. He was engaged in farming until 1933, when he and his family moved to Foreston, where they made their home. Last year Mrs. Deuel became a patient at the Herman Brockert home in Milaca because of her poor health. He remained at their home in Foreston until June 1, when he went to live with her son , ira Jr.; in Foreston. Two months ago joined his wife at the Brockert home and remained there until his death. He passed away Saturday, September 26, at 3:30 a.m. of heart complications from which he had long suffered. He was confined to his bed the past two weeks.
He is survived by his widow and three sons: Lester of Milaca, Percy and Ira of Foreston; one daughter, Mrs. Clair Bemis of Estes Brook; and one brother, Frank of Columbia, Utah, and a sister, Mrs. Clara Sipe of Billings Montana; 18 Grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
