A ROMANTIC MARRIAGE took place in Halletsville a few days ago (24 June 1896). Mr. (Alfred Patrick) Fred Dyer and Miss Nolia (Belle) Springfield, of Sweet Home, drove to Rev. W. J. Sims' gate about sun-rise, called the preacher out and stated that they desired to be married. Mr. Sims returned to the house for his bible and in a few minutes the words that made the couple man and wife were said, and the couple remained in the buggy during the ceremony. Fred was 28, Nolia was 18.
