He served in the Pacific for 4 years with the 47th SeaBee Construction battalion building air strips on remote islands. As a Tulsa detective, he was involved in the investigation of a serial killer who was breaking into women's apartments at night. One victim was named Panna Lou Liles. He later became the Tulsa Police & Fire Commissioner 1948-1950.
