Ethel Mae Ives of Potosi, formerly of Belgrade, Mo., passed away on Sept. 14, 1999 in the Potosi Manor Nursing Home at the age of 77 years, 5 months and 3 days. She was born on April 11, 1922, at Belgrade to the late William Thomas Harris and Stella Jane (Akers) Harris.
Mae, as she was known to family and friends, was united in marriage to Melvin Thomas Ives on Dec. 12, 1944 in Sheridan, Wyoming and two daughters were born to this union. Her husband preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 1979. She was also preceded by two brothers, James Harris and Edgar Harris.
Those who remain to mourn her passing are her two daughters, Alta Dodd and husband James of Belgrade and Bonnie Leek and husband Russell of Bonne Terre; three brothers, Claude Harris and wife Mamie Lee of Granite City, IL, Jesse Harris and wife Violet of Granite City, IL, and Herman Harris and wife Evelyn of Glen Carbon, IL; 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999 at Briton Chapel with Rev. Leonard Compton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were James T. Harris, Donald Isgrig, Corey Leek, Claude Wesley Harris, Kerry Klime and Rodney Leek.
Interment was in the Liberty Baptist Cemetery at Belgrade under the direction of the Britton Funeral Home of Potosi.
