The James Coles were in Kemper county, MS in 1841 and moved to Neshoba county in 1846. By 1852 they had moved to Yell county, AR, where he operated a ferry on the Arkansas River.

Gravesite Details

James and Mary were buried in Bata Mills Cemetery. Their son Reuben had the remains reburied in Brearley Cemetery. The old stones remain at Bata Mills.
