Nellie Marie (Hopkins) (Johnston) Lofgreen was a granddaughter of Levina Ellen (Bennett) and Ellis Nathan Adamson of Ottawa, KS. She was also a great-granddaughter of Amy Jane (Stanley) and Nathan Adamson of rural IA. The following excerpt is from an obituary in the Ottawa Herald Newspaper, Ottawa (Franklin Co.), KS, and was transcribed by Robert Neal "Bob" Adamson, whose father was a first cousin of Nellie Lofgreen.

"Nellie Marie Lofgreen, 84, Ottawa, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at her home. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.

She was born May 27, 1921, to Bert W. and Mary Myrtle (Adamson) Hopkins in Ottawa.

She lived in Ottawa until age 4, when she moved with her family to Detroit, Mich., for six years. She returned to Ottawa in 1931. After her first marriage, she lived in New York, Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan. She returned to Ottawa in 1969.

She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1939 and attended the University of Kansas.

She was a homemaker.

She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Wisconsin and First United Methodist Church, Ottawa.

She married Robert S. Johnston June 22, 1941, at Ottawa. He preceded her in death March 12, 1969. She married DeWayne Lofgreen June 16, 1981. He preceded her in death Jan. 14, 2002.

She also was preceded in death by two infant brothers.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Larry and Jacqueline Johnston, Rockford, Ill.; a daughter and her husband, Carol and Tom Mock, Ottawa; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren."
