GIBSONVILLE— Mrs. Myrtle Byrd Gerringer, 94, of 1232 Bird Road, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004 at Alamance Health Care, after several months of failing health.

The funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Willard Stanley. Interment will follow in Gibsonville City Cemetery.

A native of Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Byrd and the late Eliza Warren Byrd and was married to the late Russell L. Gerringer, who died in 1953. She retired from Annedeen Hosiery Mill after 40 years of service.

Mrs. Gerringer is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Wilma Dawson and Mrs. Peggy Whitaker and her husband, Ott, all of Gibsonville; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jerry and Bonnie Whitaker, Vicky and Gary Fogleman, Eddie and Cheryl Dawson and Ronnie and Pam Dawson; and five great- grandchildren, Justin Whitaker, Casey Whitaker, Jeffery Capps, Ricky Capps and Jason Fogleman. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, two sisters, Sally Norwood and Elsie Andrews and a brother, Lonnie Byrd.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
