Dr. E.O. Smith Dies
Prominent Local Physician Passes Away at Hospital Here Today
Dr. E. O. Smith, prominent local physician and part owner of the Winfield hospital, died this forenoon at the hospital after a long illness. Death came at 11:30 today.
Dr. Smith had been in failing health for two years. He has been confined to his bed since last November.
Dr. Smith has been in Winfield 13 years. He came here from Marquette, Kansas and with his brother, Dr. F.R. Smith, operated and owned the Winfield hospital. He enjoyed a large practice here and made a host of friends. He was a member of the First M.E. Church.
Edwin O. Smith was born at Peru, Iowa, January 19, 1869. His wife died here about two years ago. He leaves three children, two daughters, and a son. They are Paul Smith, of Winfield; Virginia Smith also of Winfield, and Mrs. Gordon Scott of St. Paul, Minn.
No Funeral arrangements have so far been made.
