Born June 30, 1892, in North Platte, Neb., he moved to Denver with his parents in 1902 and was graduated from Regis High School. He later was graduated from Creighton University, Omaha, Neb. Harington served with the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps in World War I.
He served on the Denver City Council for 26 years, under four mayors, and was president of the council in 1949-50. He ran unsuccessfully for mayor in 1939. Harrington was active in many business areas, primarily wholesale warehousing.
He was solo tenor with the men's and boys' choir of the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception for many years and also sang with the Denver Grand Opera Company. He married Ruth Buchanan Stilwell in 1963.
Harrington was a past president and honorary board member of the Denver Symphony Orchestra, and a past president of the Denver Convention and Visitors Bureau.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Denver County Club, Denver Rotary Club, Denver Athletic Club and the finance committee of the Central City Opera Association. He was a former member of the Denver Grain Exchange and the Chicago Board of Trade and an honorary member of the Musicians Union.
Surviving, in addition to his widow, are two sisters, Mrs., Frances Williams, Monterrey, Mexico, and Mrs. Minerva Kennedy, Minneapolis, Minn.
