Kenneth Lee Bixler, 79, of Amarillo, Texas died Friday, Dec. 23, 2005.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Kyle Streun of First Baptist Church of Hereford, Texas officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Amarillo, Texas with military Honors provided by DAV Chapter No. 26. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Mr. Bixler was born Nov. 25, 1926, in Waynoka, Okla., to Floyd and Hazel Bixler. He graduated from Waynoka High School in 1945, leaving home to serve his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Bixler returned to Waynoka after his military service and married Lorain Gadberry on Oct. 16, 1949. He began his long career with Santa Fe Railway, moving to Amarillo in 1971 with the railroad. Mr. Bixler retired from the railroad after 43 years.

Mr. Bixler was a sports enthusiast, enjoying sports of all types, and passing that on to his sons. He actively and eagerly participated in their lives, supporting them in all their endeavors, from coaching them in little league football to sharing his love for flying. He and the family also spent much of their time together trout fishing in their favorite spots in Colorado.

Mr. Bixler was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Amarillo, the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge of Waynoka. He and his wife celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in October of this year.

Survivors include his wife, Lorain Bixler; four sons, Stacey Bixler and wife Holly of Hereford, Pat Bixler and wife Paige of Ransom Canyon, Danny Bixler and wife Kristie of Canyon and Tim Bixler and wife Becky of Slaton; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie Hansen, Michelle Northern, Meghan Grimm, Pace Bixler, Taylor Bixler, Grey Bixler, Brian Lutrick, Danny Lutrick, Brad Bixler and Alli Bixler; and two great-grandchildren, Peyton Grimm and Jayce Lutrick
