Funeral services for Howard R. Binnig, 89, of Ruskin, Fla., will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville.
Mr. Binnig died June 19, 2007, at Aspen Gardens Assisted Living in Sun City, Fla.
Born May 22, 1918, in Grand River, he had lived in Michigan and Grand River before moving to Ruskin, Fla., 18 years ago.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, participating in the European Theatre. He was a member of Grand River Congregational Church, where he organized fish frys, and the Free and Accepted Masons Temple Lodge No. 28, in Painesville. His hobbies included fishing, boating, hunting, golfing and motorcycling.
Mr. Binnig retired in 1977, as a maintenance supervisor for the former Diamond Shamrock Corp., in Fairport Harbor.
Survivors are his wife, Cathryn (Arntz) Binnig; son, David R. (Carole) Binnig of Houston, Texas; daughter, Cheryl L. (Ronald) Fox of Kouts, Ind.; stepsons, Donald (Jody) McGahan of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Larry (Mara) McGahan of Grandville, Mich.; stepdaughters, Doneen (Hugo) Heese of Troy, Mich., Ruth (James) Bonelli of Painesville, and Donna Hite of Clarksburg, W.Va.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Betty Pickard of Cuyahoga Falls, Twyla Mackowiak of Mentor.
His first wife, Ferne L. (Snyder) Binnig; second wife, Jeanette D. (Patchen) Olds; son, Kenneth L. Binnig; and sister, Marge Robinson, are deceased
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Painesville.
