Edward L. Laprade, 87, of Village Drive, Smithfield, a self employed painting contractor before retiring, died Wednesday at Hebert's Nursing Home, Smithfield. He was the husband of Jeanne M. (Lupien) Laprade. They were married for 63 years. Mr. Laprade was a WWII veterans of the Army Signal Corp. He was a member of the American Legion Post 64, Balfour-Cole, Veterans of Foreign Wars and a former member of the Cierelo-Laprade Post. He is also survived by a son, Edward P. Laprade of Smithfield, a daughter Joan Marie Belleavoine of Johnston, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a brother Alfred LaPrade of Harrisville. He was the brother of the late Irving and Arthur Laprade, Lillian Loranger and Doris Gagne. His funeral was held on Tuesday from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Greenville Common, Smithfield. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Michael's Church, Smithfield. Burial with Military Honors followed in RI Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 169 George Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860.
