MOUNT HOPE -- Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon for David Luther Bolen, 70, former Mount Hope police chief who died in the Oak Hill Hospital Tuesday morning after being ill for six weeks. Funeral services will be held in the residence Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock by Dr. W. W. Pharr. pastor of Mount Hope Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the family cemetery at Sand Branch. Bolen, a carpenter by trade, was one of the pioneer residents of Mount Hope, coming here from Carroll County, Virginia, in 1898 He was last employed by the Mount Hope Lumber Company. He attended the Christian Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs Armita Moore Bolen, five sisters Mrs. Delia Mitchern. Premier; Mrs Laura Edwards, and Mrs. Kansas Higgins, Woodlawn, Va.; Mrs Carey Harman, and Mrs. Mattie ·Alderman, Hillsville, Va,; two brothers, K. B. Bolen, Bluefield and Jess Bolen, Mount Airy, N.C.; two daughters, Mrs. Marie Ballard, and Mrs. Sue Walker, Mount Hope; five sons, Robert Bolen, and Woolsey Bolen, Mount Hope; Luther Bolen, Gauley Bridge, Michael Bolen, Lawton; and Howard Bolen, Welch; and 15 grandchildren.
