DIED - At the residence of her daughter, Mrs. G. A. Bennett in Ellsworth on the 16th last, Mrs. Delilah Brownell, wife of Edwin Brownell, aged 70 years.
The deceased was a sister of Mr. Hosea Bates of this place and with his family she and her husband and three children,Mrs. Bennett, Mrs S E Whitehead and Mrs G.I. apRoberts, were among the first settlers of this town and village. For many years her name was a household word in every family round about and her hand was that of a ministering angel, in want, in sickness, and in distress. With the weight of years, she failed both physically and mentally, but her condition had not been considered dangerous until the Saturday before her death when she sank rapidly under a disease with which she had long been threatened, and she fell asleep in death on Monday.
Her funeral was attended in this village on Wednesday and many and sad were the hearts that gathered around that once loved form to pay a tribute of respect, gratitude and affection to the noble spirit that once enlivened it.
"Farewell then once a mortal,
Our long afflicted friend;
Go pass the Heavenly portal,
To God, thy glorious end.

From all thy care and sorrow
thou art escaped to day;
And we shall mount to-morrow,
And soar to thee away.
