Dr. C.P. Cannady (sic) was born at Independence, Missouri, March 5,, 1854; died at 2 p.m. January 24, 1934, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Koontz, 615 Oswego Ave., Hastings, Nebraska, following a serious operation three weeks ago at the Mary Lanning hospital.
He was taken home January 18, when he seemed to be improving. He became suddenly worse and suffered intense pain two days before his going. Everything was done to prolong his life. Two blood transfusions were given, his sons Roy and Bill furnishing as their blood was the right type.
He was married to Josephine McCutchan March 7, 1880. To this union were born five children: Mrs. Dora Jewell who passed on in 1913; Roy of Lawrence; Mrs. Lucy Blunt, Hastings; William of Grand Island; and Mrs. Lelia Koontz with whom he made his home the past twelve years.
He and his wife who died April 26, 1928, joined church together in their early wedded life and reared their children in a Christian home.
Besides his children he leaves to mourn his loss, grand children, great grand children, one brother Riley, two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Thorpe, Mission, Texas, and Mrs. Nina Hulettt, Jacksonville, Missouri.
Services were held at the Volland funeral home, Hastings, Friday at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. Dierdorff. Burial in Parkview cemetery (sic).
Dr. Cannady (sic) and family lived in Nelson many years. The family has the sympathy of old friends here. Mesdames Margaret Koontz, Edyth Trueblood, and Elsie Harvey of this place attended the funeral.
