nyshistoricnewspapers.org SULLIVAN COUNTY RECORD, Jeffersonville, NY: Sept 5 1901 pg 1: After an illness of nearly a year from tumor of the stomach, Mrs Barbara Heidt of near Kenoza Lake died last Sunday morning aged 52.
Burial in St. Georges R C Cemetery in this village yesterday morning.
Born inJeffersonville and belonged to a family of may misfortune.
Only daughter of the late Anton Ulrich, who fell from a load of hay some 20 years ago and broke his neck, and her mother, Mrs Ursula Ulrich, was shot down at the door of her home near this village 16 years ago this fall by Jack Allen, an ex sailor in the employ of John Ross.
The murderer was out hunting and intoxicated, and plunder was supposed to be the motive for his crime upon the old woman who lived alone. He was convicted and hung to death at the Monticello jail.
She was confined to her bed for nearly the past year and suffered not a little.
Survived by 3 sons and 2 daughters - John, Anthony and Mamie at home; Rosie wife of John L Behr of Birch Ridge, and Joseph of Dannamora NY
2 brothers - joseph Ulrich of Briscoe and john Ulrich of Ohio.
Her husband, Adam Heidt, died in the Middletown state hospital about 3 years ago.
