(Tunkhannock Republican October 15, 1886)
Died at her home, near Mehoopany, on September 30, 1886, Amanda Delight, wife of George Wintamute, in the 47th year of her age. As a wife she was the faithful, loving companion and counsellor of her husband, and as a mother she was devoted to her children, by whom she was greatly respected and beloved. Affection, warm, pure and true, characterized the home circle of which she was the center, administering by her presence, light and cheerfulness to all. Some months ago it was evident to watchful friends that the dreaded disease consumption had seized upon her frame, and was beginning its sure and fatal work. The sickness was long and forward the last very painful. Medical skill and healing and medicines were of no avail, and at the close of the bright September days the patient sufferer, submissive to her Heavenly Father's will, quietly passed away. The sympathy of the community goes forth to her husband and daughters, her aged mother and other relatives in in their great affliction. On Saturday, October 2, the funeral services held at the Union Hill church were conducted by Rev. E. A. McLaury, of Mehoppen, assisted by Rev. J. L. Race, of Mehoppany. A large concourse of neighbors and friends followed the remains to the tomb, thus testifying by their presence their esteem for the departed. "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord."
