Worked as a farmer and probably as a lumberman as he sold wood to the river boats that moved along the Missouri River.

Jeremiah was buried on a small bluff over looking the Missouri River. Due to erosion, flooding and the river slightly changing course over the years, the grave has washed away. This researcher wonders if his bones could possibly be close to Shenandoah, Iowa. The Missouri River channel was changed at some point, possibly by a spring flood and it is believed the body of Jeremiah was washed away and his remains scattered from Iowa to Kansas City. He may have died from malaria he probably contracted back in Bartholomew County, Indiana.
