Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Sunset Chapel of the Taft Funeral Home, for Charles Eugene Rasey, 60, who died Tuesday afternoon in a local hospital.

He was born June 16, 1920, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Ike and Ruth Rasey.

On Jan. 19, 1942 he entered the U.S. Army and remained through WW II. Following his discharge in 1945, he returned to Fort Smith, Arkansas, and in November of that year married the former Maxine Best. Soon after their marriage they moved to California, and he began working for Standard Oil, transferring to Taft in 1959.

This past January he retired, after completing 35 years with the company as a depth pressure operator.

He was a member of the Trinity Southern Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, a daughter, his step father, a brother, five sisters, and two grandsons.

The pastor of the Trinity Southern Baptist Church will officiate in the services. Interment will follow in the West Side District Cemetery.

The family requests that those wishing to, may make donations in his memory to the American Cancer Society or to the Samson Medical Research Center of Santa Barbara. Friends who wish to pay their respects may call at the Taft Funeral Home.
