Mrs. Virginia B. McClain of Red Bank died Tuesday, May 7, 2002 in an area health care facility. A native of Sugar Valley, she moved to Chattanooga, Tenn., in 1951. She was a member of Red Bank Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School for more than 40 years and worked in the nursery. She retired from Hixson First Baptist Child Development Center. She was preceded in death by her husband, Coleman McClain; parents, Harry and Clara Blitch, and a brother, Oran Blitch. Survivors include her daughter, Brenda McClain and Ron O'Neal and Cynthia McClain and Randall Heron; sons David and Lynda McClain and Jack and Tot McClain; grandchildren, Chip, Greg and Marc O'Neal; Matt, Jackie and Casey McClain; and Molly Herron; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Friday, May 10, at 11 a.m. in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home, with the Rev. Forest Prosser officiating. Graveside services were at 1:30 p.m. at West Hill Cemetery in Dalton. Memorial contributions may be made to Red Bank Cumberland Presbyterian Church or Red Bank Baptist Church. Lane Funeral Home, Coulter Chapel of Chattanooga was in charge of arrangements.
