Mrs. Howe was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the daughter of the late Fredrick Plateau Reed Sr. and Isabel Reed. She was retired from IBM. Mrs. Howe was a member of Fletchers United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jack Robert Amass, killed during WWII. Following the death of Mr. Amass, Mrs. Howe married the former J.W. 'Buck' Howe Jr., moving to Durham. Mrs. Howe is also predeceased by her brother, Albert Reed; and her two sisters, Jean Phelps and Dorothy Hubich.
Mrs. Howe is survived by her daughter, Mary Lynn Amass Hall; her brother, F.P. (Budd) Reed Jr. of Maryland; her two grandchildren, Robert James Hall and Wayne Reed Hall and wife, Madeline; and her four great grandchildren, Breana Hall, Brooke Hall, Jake Hall, and Jurell Hall.
