MRS. KATHARINE ROBISON

During the past twelve months the neighborhood of Kingston and the Presbyterian Church at this place has had many visitations, by an Allwise Providence, some of which were causes of great rejoicing; but more often of sadness. At the beginning of the year 1870 such an outpouring of God's spirit upon his people had never before been witnessed at this place, for which the Lord be praised; yet his hand has fallen heavily upon us since that time. In a few short months, three of the pioneer members of this church have been called from time to eternity; first W.H. Anthrobus, and then S.A. Donnell Sr., and now we are called upon to record the death of Mrs. Catharine Robison, who died on the 23rd inst., after a lingering illness, from disease of the lungs.

The deceased was the wife of Andrew Robison, Sr., who still survives her. She was born in Nicholas County, Ky., 1799, and was therefore seventy two years of age. She was married in Kentucky in 1820; living there but a short time when they removed to this county with her father's family, (Samuel Donnell) in 1823; living on the farm they settled on at that time, until her death. She in early life united with the Presbyterian church, and has been a faithful follower of Christ during all these intervening years; she lived to celebrate her golden wedding in February last, of which your readers had a sketch; no children ever had a more pains taking mother, or one who took more interest in their spiritual as well as temporal welfare, of whom she lived to see all united with the Church; three of them are numbered among the dead.

She was a woman of more than ordinary powers, who used her influence for the promotion of the welfare of those around her. Her funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon, with appropriate services at the Church, conducted by Rev. A.T. Rankin, and she was followed to her last resting place by a large concourse of friends and relatives.
